It’s pretty easy to guess what this was from its distinctive shape.
This was Blackburn Greyhound Stadium off Gorse Street which closed in 1984 and was demolished soon afterwards to make way for Blackburn’s main Tesco supermarket.
It had been operating since 1933. Until the late Seventies, Blackburn was unusual as it remained a grass track, until finally converting to the more common sand track which you can see here. At its peak there was racing three nights a week - on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
