A MAN has died after he was hit by a train late at night.
The emergency services were called on Monday evening to reports of a casualty on the railway closed to Rosegrove station in Burnley.
The British Transport police and paramedics were alerted to the incident at 10.19pm as reports came in of an injured man on the tracks.
Sadly he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A file will be sent to the coroner.
A spokesman said: “British Transport Police were called to Rose Grove railway station, Burnley, at 10.19pm last night (12/10) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
“Paramedics also attended, however, sadly a man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
