AN entire school year group has been told to study at home after someone in the Year 11 bubble tested positive for coronavirus.

Westhoughton High School contacted Public Health England about the covid-19 case and has decided to make the "difficult but important decision" of isolating the fifth year students at home.

And a form group in Year 8 has also been told not to come to school after a positive test was returned.

A school spokesman said: "You may already be aware that we have had a positive test within our Year 11 bubble.

"Following further consultation with Public Health England, we have taken the difficult but important decision to isolate the entire Year 11 bubble.

"This is with immediate effect. All work will be set on Microsoft Teams, and should be submitted on a daily basis.

"If you have any concerns, please contact the pastoral team at y11pastoralteam@westhoughton-high.org.

"Also, due to a positive test within Year 8 we have had to send one form group home to isolate and a few key contacts following advice and guidance from Public Health England.

"If you have any concerns, please contact the pastoral team at y8pastoralteam@westhoughton-high.org.

"All affected students parents/carers will have received a synergy message with a letter attached.

"Thank you."
