Explain the history of the pub:
This landmark corner building had been the Regency Bar since 1977.
Before then, it was the Commercial Hotel for almost 100 years. Built in 1881, it was the second Commercial Hotel on this site.
The first was an early 19th-century coaching inn. In 1848, two coaches called at the hotel daily, except Sundays – the Invincible (for Burnley and Preston) and the Shuttle (for Blackpool).
Is food served? If yes what’s on the menu?
Yes we serve traditional pub grub at fantastic prices. Steaks, burgers and all day breakfasts are always popular.
Is there a beer garden? Yes and well used when the sun is shining.
Do you have any darts/snooker/pool teams?
We run a charity darts match every year.
Most popular drink served is:
John Smiths or Fosters.
Most memorable moment for the pub was:
We have had some great events over the years including Christmas parties.
Have you faced any challenges within the industry?
Covid, the re-opening has been hard work with all of the new rules and regulations.
The best thing about running a pub is…
The social aspect of the pub. We have regulars and you become friends with them that’s a good thing.
The worst thing about running a pub is…
The hours are hard there’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes like re stocking and general maintenance.
The perfect cure for a hangover is...
