TWO cats from Blackburn have become unlikely international stars after their antics racked up 10million online hits.
Black and white cat Tom, six, and Mimi, a white and ginger male cat, five, feature in their own videos one of which was even shared by huge US TV chat show The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
They are brothers and owned by Mohammed Ahmed.
He said: “I have had them for over five years and soon realised they were a little special when they started doing extraordinary things.
“People don’t know the cats hail from Blackburn and it is good to put the town on the map.”
Mohammed posted his first video in February 2015 and now his YouTube channel he manages - ‘Tom and Mimi’ - has more than 60,000 subscribers. Videos range from the cats play fighting to stealing chicken from a table.
The cats’ most popular video entitled ‘Synchronized Cat Jump Ends In Awkward Landing’ was featured on Japanese television and had been viewed more than 100,000 times. Another post on Instagram received 700,000 views.
Mohammed said: “I think people are drawn to the videos because they are incredibly funny and unique. They are those type of videos, you have to see it to believe it.
“My personal favourite is the one that is the synchronised jump on to the wall which I thought could only have been done by two cats that are so in tune with one another.
“I post several videos a week with the cats getting up to all sorts of antics.
“I get requests from TV all the time and even got one from The Ellen DeGeneres Show via Instagram.”
Mohammed has posted more than 1,000 videos and said he receives messages from across the world. He said: “They’re mainly positive and encouraging from people telling me how much they enjoy watching the videos and how much they love the cats. They are an unusual pair.
“The cats do require a lot of care and attention. Being a responsible cat owner is about providing your cat with everything they need to live a happy and healthy life.”
