POLICE are continuing to appeal for information on a hit and run.

Two people were seriously injured when they were hit by a car in 1.45am on Sunday July 5 in Newchurch Road, Stacksteads, after an altercation outside the Rose and Bowl pub.

A driver returned, mounted the kerb and drove into the pair. The vehicle was driven off from the scene and enquiries are on-going to trace the drivers.

Police said that the vehicle has been used as a weapon and driven deliberately at two people causing serious injury to one.

One of the victims, a 23-year-old from Rossendale, suffered serious leg injuries. The second, an 18-year-old from Rawtenstall, suffered more minor injuries. Both have since been discharged from hospital.

Last month a 34-year-old man from Bacup and a 32-year-old man from Bacup were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

They have since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Det Sgt Mark Hogan, from East CID, said: “The investigation is progressing and although two arrests have been made we are still appealing for anybody with information about what happened to come forward.”
