A SEX offender has been jailed after making lewd comments to a 15-year-old girl in the street before putting his hands down his pants.

John Carter appeared at Preston Crown Court where he was sentenced by a judge for one breach of a sexual harm prevention order, relating to an incident which occurred on Livesey Branch Road in May.

At an earlier hearing Blackburn Magistrates Court heard how Carter, 43, of Back Lane, Heckmondwike, Yorkshire made vile comments to a teenage girl who hurried away from him.

But minutes later he was in front of her again, put his hands down his pants and made another suggestive comment.

Tracy Yates, prosecuting at the lower court, said the sexual harm prevention order was made for an indefinite period in 2015.

She said CCTV footage showed Carter get into a car after the first incident.

The same car was caught on another CCTV system further up the road shortly before the girl was accosted for the second time.

He was jailed for 12 months.
