NAME of the pub: The Havelock Inn

Address of the pub: Havelock Street, Blackburn

Landlord: Darren Heggie

Bar staff: We have five members all together

Explain the history of the pub:
We took over thirteen years ago and it was very quiet. Since then we have built up a well-established business although that has a ll come crumbling down with covid.

When we arrived we put more entertainment on for the customers, we have seventeen televisions and have all of the sports channels.

Refurb took place six years ago over £100,000 was spent and it made a huge difference with a stage.

Is there a beer garden?

Yes it is huge and is one of the things we are known for. We have hired a marquee recently to keep to the social distancing guidelines and make more room for the customers that we have.

Do you have any darts/snooker/pool teams?
Yes we have them all. We have the Havelock FC team too. All these are postponed at the moment and it’s an absolute joke.

Most popular drink served is: Pints of stella

Most memorable moment for the pub was: The world cup, the most recent one where we could all enjoy the atmosphere. We had over 2,000 people watching the games on our huge screen that we hired.

Do you have an entertainment line up? Yes. When we can. We have karaoke every weekend soul and Motown on once a month, live artists and bingo every Sunday.

Have you faced any challenges within the industry?
This monstrosity called COVID. People’s livelihoods have been ruined.

The best thing about running a pub is…
Socialising and seeing everyone have a good time.

The worst thing about running a pub is…
Day to day pressures of the trade, we have to work harder to make a living. There are lots of overheads and it’s difficult keeping up the payments.

The perfect cure for a hangover is...
A Jagerbomb.
