A BOROUGH leader has appealed to the minority of residents who flout coronavirus rules to toe the line of face another lockdown as an NHS campaign to download its test and tracer app visits Blackburn.
The government's NHS Covid-19 app roadshow promoting the test and trace device with a multilingual team delivering information to encourage people to download it will be in the town today.
Promotional marketing teams will be in Blackburn to speak to residents while a fleet of advertising vans will tour the town and will travelling across Lancashire to amplify the message.
Cllr Mohammed Khan told Blackburn with Darwen full Council Forum last night: “These are very difficult times.
“A big majority of our people follow the guidance but there is still a minority who don't care about it. That is our concern.
“We do appreciate the confusing and conflicting message coming from central government but the main message is that we have to follow the guidance to make sure we are going to control this virus.
“I am very very concerned and I hope things will get better in Lancashire otherwise it could be another lockdown which I would really hate..
“So mymessage is please keep pounding the message to your community ‘Obey the rules, follow the guidance, wash your hands, use your mask, keep the distance, don't go and do other people harm'.
““My request to all the communities is please follow the guidance.
“We could be in a difficult situation if we are not going to do it.
“We must follow the guidance and that is the only way forward.”
