A MAN ended his roof-top protest of throwing bricks in Blackburn town centre just after midnight.
Police were called at 11am to a man who had climbed up some scaffolding onto the roof of The Chippery on Corporation Street in Blackburn.
A crowd gathered as the man threw slates onto the floor, causing police to cordon off several roads including Mincing Lane, King Street, Barton Street and Corporation Street.
Video footage shows the man throwing slates and breaking roof windows on the property.
A Lancashire Police spokesman said: "At around 11.15pm, we received information that he wanted to come down off the roof.
"So we had to get Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service to get their cherry-picker to go up and get him down safely.
"It was about 12.15 when he was successfully brought down to the ground and he was arrested."
Staff at The Chippery and nearby hair salon Heiress were not allowed to leave and were told to stay indoors along with customers who were inside at the time.
Two fire engines arrived into the afternoon with police attempting to talk the man down, however he stayed on the roof for several hours, and appeared to be on the phone at times.
