MOTORISTS are being warned to avoid a main route after a tree collapsed on the road.
The incident happened at the bottom of Burnley Road just before Towneley Park after midday.
There were posts on social media about the incident urging motorists to find an alternative route.
An eyewitness said: "Avoid going over the tops from Weir to Burnley guys there's a tree down totally blocking the road in both directions near Towneley Park.
"Nobody had been injured thank god.
"It just missed a gent's car but he slammed his brakes on just in time which was a lucky."
