A LARGE amount of cash, drugs and weapons have been seized by police.

£22,000 in cash, several kilos of cannabis, cocaine, mobile phones and weapons have all been seized from addresses in Accrington this week.

A boy and three men aged 16, 18, 20 and 27 were arrested on suspicion of drugs offences as a result.

A police spokesman said: “It has been a good week of activity for the East Division Targeted Crime Team in Accrington so far.

“On Monday the team arrested a 20-year-old local man in possession of numerous deals of cocaine, cash and two mobile phones in Oswaldtwistle.

“In total over £22,000 was found along with several kilos of cannabis, drugs packaging and weapons. Not a bad few days work for the team. Wonder who is going to be next through the doors.

“No one thinks they are going to get caught but they always do eventually.”

A search of an address connected to him led to another £1,000 seized. On Tuesday police arrested two 18 and 16-year-old males on Charter Street, Accrington after seeing them involved in a suspected drug deal. One was found to have a cigarette packet hidden down his trouser leg containing crack cocaine and heroin.

Three mobile phones and some cash were also found. Upon searching addresses linked to the males a further £500 was found hidden in an air freshener along with a large quantity of nitrous oxide canisters.

Finally, on Wednesday police stopped a 27-year-old man driving on Sydney Street, Accrington, after believing he may be involved in drugs supply. £1,500 cash, three mobile phones and around 50 tubs of cannabis were found.

A search of an address connected to the suspect led to a significant recovery of cash and drugs.
