AN ACCRINGTON branch of building material supplier Jewson has confirmed it is to remain open after a member of staff tested positive for coronavirus.

Employees at the branch were concerned after a member of staff contracted the virus at the weekend.

The person was sent home to self isolate. All other members of staff, apart from two who are also self-isolating, remain working at the Hyndburn Road branch.

A spokesman for Saint-Gobain, which owns Jewson, said: “We can confirm a colleague in our Accrington Jewson branch has tested positive for Covid-19.

“As part of our process all those who have been in close contact with the colleague are self-isolating and have all tested negative for Covid-19.

“We have undertaken a deep-clean of our branch and continue to operate with our new Covid safe ways of working.

“Following the latest government advice we will also be taking additional measures to protect colleagues and customers.”

This is in line with current government regulations.
