An Accrington taxi firm is donating free masks to the public.

Max Cabs has already dished out 2,200 masks to customers as well as passers-by in the past month.

Talib Zaman from Max Cabs said: “We bought 3,500 masks as a way to encourage more people to wear one and to help protect our drivers. Most people are happy to wear one.

“Once we have distributed these we are hoping to get some more and they will also be free to everyone.”

Max Cabs has 400 drivers who serve Lancashire and Manchester.

Talib said the recent ‘Eat out to Help Out’ scheme saw bookings go up. “It got busy last month and business picked up due to people going out a bit more. Hopefully, things will improve slowly.”
