WESTHOLME School students are 'adopting a grandparent' to help elderly residents in care homes who have not seen their families for months.
The school has partnered with Springfield Care Home, part of Four Seasons Healthcare, on Preston New Road in the run up to 'Grandparents Day' to continue their support within the local community.
During the lockdown, Westholme School provided donations of PPE to local surgeries and hospitals to help do their part in the battle against Covid-19.
Springfield Care Home is a neighbour of Westholme School and residents of the care home have been unable to have visits from family and friends since May due to the coronavirus lockdown.
To mark National Grandparents Day on October 4th the students will sending a small gift and a card to show they are being thought of on this very special day.
Head of Year 7, Louise Cowan, said, “Our pupils are delighted to support this lovely initiative. We all truly hope these postcards bring a little bit of happiness after what has been a really difficult time recently. New friendships might blossom!”
