THE SEARCH is on to find Lancashire’s new top police boss.

The Police and Crime Commissioner, Clive Grunshaw, this week announced that the hunt for a successor to Chief Constable Andy Rhodes has begun.

Mr Rhodes has led the force since June 2017 and will retire in Spring 2021 following over 30 years of policing service within the county.

The Commissioner's nationwide search for the next Chief Constable will ensure a replacement is in post before Mr Rhodes steps down.

He praised the outgoing Chief Constable Andy Rhodes, saying: "During his time in charge of the Constabulary, Andy has continued to deliver an excellent policing service to Lancashire through a sustained period of austerity, and through his leadership the Constabulary was rated as “outstanding” in 2020 by Government inspectors in relation to the efficient use of resources, and has ensured a strong position for his successor and for the people of Lancashire. It has been a privilege to work with such a committed and inspirational Chief Constable and together we have created a strong foundation on which to build.

"I am now looking for a Chief Constable who can build on the success to date and embrace our diverse communities and lead the Constabulary to deliver a service that meets the varied needs of the people of Lancashire."

The closing date for applications is 16 October 2020, interviews are scheduled to take place in November. The new Chief Constable will be expected to take up post in April 2021.
