FREE parking for shoppers in Ribble Valley is to come to an end in October.
Ribble Valley Borough Council introduced two hours free parking at short stay car parks in Longridge and Clitheroe back in July.
The parking scheme is set to end on October 1, giving shoppers a couple more weeks to take advantage of the scheme.
Both shoppers and traders have benefitted from the move, however the council have said as the 'new normal' is taking shape, the free parking will end.
Ribble Valley Borough Council leader Stephen Atkinson said: “We know the free parking has been appreciated by shoppers and residents, because they have told us.
“Even though the scheme cost us around £40,000 in lost fee income, we consider it a worthwhile investment to encourage visitors back to Clitheroe and Longridge following lockdown to enjoy some of the best independent shops in Lancashire.”
