CORONAVIRUS infections have increased across East Lancashire as one area recorded a significant spike over the last 24-hours.

Burnley’s total number of cases grew by 26 in the latest figures released on Tuesday – more than anywhere else in East Lancashire. The borough has now recorded a total of 796 cases.

Blackburn with Darwen reported the second highest number of new cases, with 15 new infections making the total 2,128.

Ten new cases were recorded in Rossendale, which has now recorded a total of 447 cases.

Pendle saw infections rise by nine with a new total of 1,027. In Hyndburn, five new cases borough’s the boroughs total to 632.

Infections grew by two in the Ribble Valley with a total of 256 infections – the lowest in East Lancashire – recorded.
