Police investigating a shooting on the bank holiday weekend are appealing for CCTV footage of a car believed to be involved with the incident.

On August 30, two shots were fired from a shotgun in a residential street in Preston.

Thankfully nobody was injured during the incident, but four men, wearing balaclavas, were later seen making off from the scene, on Elcho Street, in a silver Land Rover in the direction of Garstang Road.

The vehicle was later recovered in Preston city centre on September 1.

A spokesperson for the police said: "Following the incident police believe the Land Rover may have been driven in the Blackpool Road area, possibly towards Ingol, Tanterton and Ashton.

"It is also possible the vehicle used several sets of registration plates during this time."

Detectives are now asking for help piecing together where the vehicle was between August 30 and September 1 and are asking anybody with CCTV or dashcam footage taken during that time frame to check and see if they captured it.

DC Ged Haselden, of Preston CID, said: “We are asking anybody who has CCTV or dashcam systems to check back and see if they have any footage of this silver Land Rover in the time between the incident taking place and the time the vehicle was recovered by officers in Preston.

“We are also continuing to appeal for information about this incident, or those involved.

"If you know anything, please get in touch as soon as possible.”

On Friday, a 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent.

He has since been released on bail, pending further enquiries.

Police also arrested a 31-year-old man last week on suspicion of the same offence.

He has also been released under investigation.

Anybody with information about the incident is asked to call the police on 101 quoting log 0968 of August 30.
