POLICE have warned motorists if they drive in an anti-social manner their vehicles will be seized.

It comes as officers stoppe and removed a high performance car for the second time in 48 hours today.

The Audi S3 was stopped and towed away after complaints from residents about it being driven in an "erratic" manner.

Blackburn with Darwen Police posted details about the incident on social media and they issued a warning to other drivers.

They stated: "Today Neighbourhood Officers have seized an Audi S3 for the second time in 48hours due to the manner of its driving around the Wensley Fold area of Blackburn.

"Several complaints have been received about this vehicle driving in an erratic manner.

"We take these issues seriously and hopefully this sends out a message to the drivers who persistently drive in an anti-social manner around our community #staysafe."

The police have wide ranging powers to deal with people who use their vehicles in an anti-social manner. Apart from prosecuting offenders for motoring offences, that could lead to being disqualified from driving. The police can also seize motor vehicles. The keeper of the vehicle will be liable for recovery/storage costs.

This law applies to vehicles driven carelessly or without reasonable consideration to other road users. This includes car parks and other public areas where the nature of the driving is likely to cause alarm, distress or annoyance to members of the public.
