A pub in East Lancashire has closed its doors after a customer tested positive for coronavirus.

Bosses at the Rhoden Inn in Oswaldtwistle took responsible steps to protect their staff and other customers on Thursday evening, by announcing they would close for a deep clean.

A message on their Facebook page stated they would be shut until further notice with all staff and management to be tested over the weekend.

It is thought the customer had been in the pub on Sunday September 6, and management are now advising anyone who was in on Sunday to also take a test.

Their statement read: "Hi guys we are closed. A customer has tested positive for Covid-19.

"We will be shut until further notice.

"A deep clean will be done in the pub to make ensure we keep on top of the spread.

"We advise anyone who was in on Sunday to get tested.

"We are doing everything we can to get back open safe and Covid free.

"Staff and management will be getting tested over the weekend.

"I will keep you all updated."

The Rhoden Inn joins several other establishments across East Lancashire which have temporarily closed for safety reasons.

Just last week, three bars in Rossendale shut their doors after a rise in coronavirus cases in the area.
