Pupils from four East Lancashire schools have been contacted after pupils tested positive for coronavirus.

A class from Lammack Primary School and a year from Pleckgate High School were told as a precautionary measure to self-isolate.

A letter to parents from Lammack Primary School read, “Sadly, I writing to inform that a class bubble will be closed as of tonight.”

It added, “I understand this will be frustrating and disruptive but we have to follow the instructions from Public Health England.”

At Pleckgate High School a letter confirms that a member of the school community tested positive for Covid-19. It states, “As a precautionary measure and following advice from Public Health North West, we have contacting all relevant parents/carers of year 7 who have been in close contact.

“Due to the ‘bubble’ process operating within Pleckgate High School your child is unlikely to come into close contact with either pupil.”

Another school reported to have contacted parents, is The Valley Leadership Academy in Stacksteads, Rossendale.

The school was forced to send year 11 pupils home after one of them tested positive for coronavirus.

Bacup and Rawtwnstall Grammar School also reported a student had been sent home after contracting the virus.

In a statement to parents, the headteacher said: "Over the twenty four hours we have been made aware of one member of our school community who has tested positve for COVID-19.

"We are continuing to monitor the situation and are working closely with Public Health England."
