CONFUSING junction markings that were causing drivers to stop in the middle of a road have been reported.

A junction was painted outside the Lion Hotel pub in Wensley Road, Blackburn, last month and has been baffling drivers ever since.

Heading away from the town centre motorists are forced to slow down at a junction as they approach Bent Gap Lane. To the left is an entrance to a scrap yard where the gates are locked.

Drivers heading this way slow down but for no purpose it seems. One said: “There seems to be no reason for this junction in the middle of a road.

“We are forced to slow down and then realise there is no point in doing do.

“Maybe they began doing some work on a project and then stopped?”

Blackburn with Darwen Council said the markings would be removed within 48 hours.
