A MAN was left with a fractured skull after a serious assault in Rawtenstall on Bank Holiday Monday.

The 36-year-old was leaving Mimi's Takeaway on Bacup road at around 1am on August 31 when he was punched in the head causing him to fall to the ground hitting his head.

He was then taken to hospital where he was treated for his injuries before being discharged.

Police are now investigating and are appealing for anyone who witnesses the assault or who may have CCTV footage to come forward.
