AN 18-YEAR-OLD had his jaw broken in a vicious attack outside the White Lion Hotel pub in Clitheroe last Sunday.

The man was outside the Market Place pub with a friend on September 6 when they were approached by two men and a woman who started a verbal argument with them.

The pair were then assaulted with the victim suffering broken jaw which required surgery while his friend suffered only minor injuries.

Ribble Valley Police's DS Sarah Hargreaves said: “This was a nasty and entirely unprovoked attack on two men who were simply enjoying a night out.

"As a result, one has suffered a serious injury, for which he has had to have surgery.

“We are now asking anybody with information about the attack to get in touch with us as soon as possible.

"Perhaps you saw all or part of the attack or saw the group around the time it happened, or maybe you recognise the description of the group.

“Whatever information you have, please share it with us as soon as possible.”

One of the men who approached the pair is described as being white, between 5ft 9ins and 5ft 11ins tall, approximately 18-years-old and wearing a light-coloured T-shirt - possibly white in colour.

The second man is described as white, aged around 18, roughly 6ft 4ins tall and of broad build, while the woman is described as being white, around 18 years old, of average height and build, with blonde hair.

Officers now want to hear from anybody who saw the incident or saw the group before it happened.

Anybody with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting log number 1121 of September 6.
