A BARN fire in Ribchester, Ribble Valley kept firefighters at the scene for nearly ten hours as they battled to extinguish the blaze.
Six fire engines from Blackburn, Preston, Bamber Bridge, Penwortham and Fulwood arrived at the scene on Hothersall Lane at around 3.23pm yesterday afternoon.
There they found a large barn containing bales of hay was well alight
Firefighters used an aerial ladder platform from Preston along with a light portable pump, two hose reels, two jets and two ground monitors to tackle the blaze.
They also used a drone to carry out scene surveys.
At 8.30pm that evening as the fire was brought under control the team was reduced to three fire engines until finally at around 1am the blaze was extinguished and all firefighters were able to return to their bases.
Fortunately there have been no reported injuries.
