BLACKBURN’S own multiple Guinness World Record holder and professional stuntman Johnny Strange has embarked on an unlikely career change by launching a twice weekly history show on YouTube.

Unusual as Usual will draw on Johnny’s arcane knowledge of all things weird with each episode showcasing the life and career of a different unusual figure from history.

The idea came to the multi-talented stuntman, whose day job involves flying around the world swallowing swords, juggling chainsaws and eating fire, after the coronavirus pandemic called a halt to much of his work in the entertainment industry.

Johnny said: “This is just my way of being creative, I love all things different and unusual, so it made sense to me.

“I started uploading videos at the start of lockdown and although I’m eager to get back out there performing again, I think I’ll continue making videos too as I’m really enjoying it.

“Once it's safe to do so I might even ask some of my Guinness World Record holding friends if they would like to appear on my channel too.”

These friends include Elaine Davidson ‘The most pierced woman in the world’ and Matt Gone ’the most chequered tattooed person’.

So far Johnny’s YouTube show has featured similar characters from different historical eras, such as the Zombie Boy who holds the record for ’most bones tattooed on the body’, Frank and Louie who hold the record for ‘oldest living two-faced cat’ and Robert Wadlow 'the tallest man in history’.

Some of his own unusual Guinness World Records include ‘the heaviest weight pulled by pierced ears’ which he won in 2015 by pulling a Cessna 172-P weighing 677.8kg for 20.4 metres.

Johnny has also racked up the record for ’the most sword swallowed in three minutes’, ’the fastest time to break 16 concrete blocks on the body’ and ‘the most newspapers split using a bull whip in one minute’ to name but a few.
