A SECTION of land is to be transferred by Pendle borough to a town council to improve and extend a play area.
Senior councillors approved the transfer of the property in Colne at a meeting this month.
It will enable Colne Town Council to combine the two existing Waterside play areas into one and improve the equipment.
The town council also intended to move the play equipment from the bottom of Exchange Street, Colne, which would leave this land vacant.
The play areas are bordered by Waterside Road and Dam Side.
Pendle Council’s Policy and Resources Committee is to consult with the town council on whether it gives the now-vacant piece of land back to the borough in return for the alternative section of land transferred, whether the town council retains the land, grasses it over and maintains it, or whether the town council level the land and creates a wildflower garden or orchard.
