A MAN managed a big time breach of a restraining order by getting the woman it was meant to protect pregnant.

Blackburn magistrates heard when police found Wayne Mark Braysford asleep on the sofa at his ex-partner's home she refused to answer any questions or make a statement.

But Braysford told the officers they were going for a scan the following day to check on their unborn child.

Braysford, 35, of Avenue Parade, Accrington, pleaded guilty to breach of a restraining order.

He was made subject to a community order for nine months with 15 days rehabilitation activity requirement, made subject to a curfew between 7pm and 7am for four weeks and ordered to pay £85 costs and £95 victim surcharge.

Rebecca Seymour, prosecuting, said the restraining order had been made for two years in July 2019 and there had been one breach in July 2020.

Police went to the victim's home in the early hours of Monday and after she let them in found Braysford asleep on the sofa.

Gareth Price, defending, said the previous breach had come a year after the order was made and both the defendant and his ex-partner had told police they thought it was a one-year order and not two years.

"Clearly I can't advance the same argument today," said Mr Price.

"It seems very clear it is an order the lady doesn't feel she needs any more.

"There is no suggestion of any harm and as you have heard she is expecting their child."
