ACCRINGTON Stanley are set to remain partnered with housewares brand Wham after announcing a further three-year sponsorship deal with the company.

The deal will see Wham, which owns Burnley manufacturer What More UK, continue as the club’s main sponsor, appearing on the team’s strip and around the ground while the Livingstone Road ground will continue to be known as the Wham Stadium.

The club and company made the announcement as the team prepare for a raft of friendlies in the coming weeks.

What More UK company director, Tony Grimshaw OBE, said: "We're proud to be the main sponsor for Accrington Stanley.

“It's a great club with a great history and they've an even greater future ahead of them."

What More is owned by Stanley owner Andy Holt.

The company exports Lancashire made Wham products to 74 countries around the world and stocks products in major UK supermarkets along with thousands of independent high street shops.

The company also offers bakeware and kitchen equipment, garden equipment and products for the home laundry and utility room.

Accrington Stanley meanwhile will be glad of the stability, the new deal extension coming after an unprecedented season that saw games interrupted by the coronavirus pandemic.

As a result, football clubs around the country have been heavily impacted financial, with those in the lower leagues bearing the brunt.

However with this deal in place, the club can now look forward to starting the new season, kicking off against Peterborough on September 12, with a degree of confidence.

A spokesman for Accrington Stanley said: "With all the uncertainty in football since COVID-19 hit, we're having to do lots of things differently.

“The continuation of this sponsorship deal means that at least one thing has stayed the same. Over the past few years Wham has been really good for Stanley.

“They're more than a sponsor, they're proper fans!"
