FIRE crews across East Lancashire were kept busy over the weekend with several fires breaking out across the county.
A kitchen blaze, fire in a church and car fire all took hold in Friday evening, resulting in a busy night for firefighters.
The first of the incidents was at 4.02am on Sackville Street in Brierfield. One fire engine from Nelson was called to the street, where a fire involving two cars had broken out.
Firefighters used one hose reel to extinguish the fire.
Just moments later, a further fire engine from Nelson alongside a crew from Colne were called out to a kitchen fire on Whitehall Street in Nelson.
Firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus used on hose reel and a ventilation unit to put the blaze out.
An hour and a half later and crews from Darwen and Bolton were called to attend a small fire in a church on Bolton Road.
Firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus used one hose reel and two ventilation units to extinguish the fire.
An investigation into the cause is underway.
