THERE were scenes of joy and jubilation as Bury Grammar School (BGS) students celebrated another year of incredible A Level results.

The Class of 2020, who two years ago secured the school's best GCSE grades in a generation, exceeded all expectations as they earned top grades after a challenging year.

Once again the school enjoyed a 100 per cent pass rate and more than half of students had A*s and As on their results slips.

The majority of all grades met the school's 'gold standard' of A* to B and many of its students will now be heading off to study at some of the UK's most prestigious universities.

Jo Anderson, BGS principal, said: ‘Many congratulations to the stunning class of 2020 – we could not be more proud of your academic achievements over the last two years nor of the people you have become.

"An outstanding year group, you thoroughly deserve outstanding A Level grades."

"All of us at BGS have loved working with you and we wish you all the very best – you are a generation we will never forget," she added.

"I know that our students really wanted to sit their exams to show what they are capable of but sadly this was not possible.

"I know that they appreciate that their learning whilst at school will remain with them for life and will equip them to deal confidently with the challenges that lie ahead, at university and beyond.
