A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of arson.
Police and fire crews were called to Langroyd Hall, Colne, on Thursday night.
A police spokesman said: “There was a small fire at the rear of the site in a outbuilding, the hall itself has not been affected and remains intact. The fire was extinguished by our colleagues from Lancashire Fire and Rescue.
“With regards to the fire itself, we believe that it is suspicious and we have arrested a male on suspicion of arson."
Crew manager Richard Taylor of Colne Fire Station, said: “We received the call about the fire at an outbuilding at 9.10pm.
“The premises is listed and is derelict and we don’t want people trying to get on the site.
“We were there for about three hours trying to put it out.
Pendle Council approved plans last month for the demolition of part of the hall and change of use from public house to extra care residential institution with 32 extra care apartments with a gymnasium and hairdressers.
The plans were submitted to the council by Wildblood Macdonald Architects on behalf of Fit Out Yorkshire Ltd.
