IMAGES of what 150 new homes on the site of Horwich Golf Club could look like have been revealed as part of a public consultation into the proposal.

New plans, brought forward by Northstone, are the third attempt by the firm’s parent company, Peel L&P, to build hundreds of homes on the site.

The latest plans would see the popular spot transformed into an estate of up to 150 family homes, with 34 per cent designated as affordable housing.

Seven acres of "ecological and recreational green space" have also been added to the plans, offering new habitats to wildlife once the build is complete.

A community orchard, bat boxes, and a children's woodland play area are also being considered by the firm.

Jon England, development director at Northstone, said: “Northstone is delighted to be launching plans for up to 150 energy efficient homes and new community green space in Horwich.

“Our plans for Horwich Golf Club include a new green space for the community which we hope will leave a positive legacy for future generations.

"We’re encouraging local people to get involved in our public consultation so that these plans respond to the wishes of the community and deliver a scheme that Horwich can be proud of.”

These plans will be submitted to Bolton Council whilst the firm attempts to appeal its second rejection for housing on the site.

Peel L&P bought Horwich Golf Club in 2012, and although the club has continued to run since then, the firm claims the site is "financially unviable".

Leaflets outlining the plans have been delivered to the 3,200 homes closest to the site, but all residents are welcome to have their say by viewing the plans online.
