A FORTY-one-year-old from Bury has been given a suspended prison sentence after being found with a stash of child pornography.

Michael Charnock had 106 indecent images at the most serious level, Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court was told.

Charnock also admitted to making 27 indecent images at the next ranked level of seriousness, and making a further 26 indecent images at a third most-serious rating.

He pleaded guilty to three offences of making indecent images, at an earlier hearing before Manchester magistrates and had been committed for crown court sentence on bail.

Charnock had also pleaded guilty to one offence of possessing an item of extreme pornography.

The dates of the offences ranged from July 2016 to October 2017.

Judge Paul Lawton imposed an eight-month prison term, suspended for 24 months.

Charnock was told he must also complete 100 hours of community service and take part in 25 rehabilitation activity days, to be supervised by the probation service.

He must also sign the sex offenders register, to keep the authorities aware of his whereabouts, for 10 years.
