Police have been patrolling an area of East Lancashire after a group of around 10 men were seen fighting with weapons in a car park in a residential street.
Just after midnight on Wednesday, police were called to Wood Street in Brierfield, where they were greeted by a group of men brandishing weapons and fighting with each other in the street.
The men ran from officers but a 22-year-old was later arrested.
A spokesperson for the police said: "We were called at around 12.40am on Thursday following reports that a group of around 10 men were fighting in the street with weapons.
"When officers arrived the group dispersed and ran off.
"A 22-year-old man from Nelson was later arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and possession of a class A drug.
"He has been bailed pending further enquiries until August 19."
An eye-witness, who did not wish to be named said: "There was a major incident last night in the community centre car park in Brierfield.
"A fight erupted involving weapons.
"The police cordoned off the area and then raided a property.
"Police have been in the area all day today carrying out reassurance patrols on foot and in vehicles."
