Police have re-issued an appeal to find a man who is wanted for a serious assault and several other offences.

On July 11, police in Burnley issued an appeal for information on the whereabouts of 28-year-old Ben Monks.

Monks, who is said to be 'violent and dangerous' and is known to have associates 'all over Burnley' is wanted in connection with a serious assault and for punching a female police officer in the face.

On Wednesday, a fresh appeal to find him was launched.

The attack on the PC took place on Friday July 10, when she was trying to detain Monks.

A spokesperson for the police said: "We are issuing an appeal to trace Ben Monks who is wanted for a serious assault and assault an emergency worker.

"On July 10 a female officer has attempted to detain Monks when he has punched her in the face causing injuries to her eye that required medical attention including an injury that was glued.

"Monks is known to have associates all over Burnley and has links to the Stoops area.

"He is a white male and is described as being 5ft 9in tall, of stocky build, with ginger hair and a beard.

"Any immediate sightings please call 999 and do not approach this male - he is violent and dangerous."
