A FILM producer is working with the National Youth Film Academy to produce his own crime film.

Adam Survay originally from Blackburn is currently working on the new film Last Rites, to be shown at the Greenwich Auditorium in London in August and at film festivals around the country.

The passionate 27-year-old has previously worked on sets for Hollywood films like Transformers, Men In Black and Mission Impossible.

He is also due to work on the new James Bond film as well as the latest instalment for Wonder Woman.

Last Rites follows the lives of a documentary crew who are filming the lives of cleaners, who happen to be working for a mafia gang.

The crew are pulled into a dark world of crime, but Mr Survay takes a comedic approach to tell the story.

He said: “It’s almost like a mocumentary on a film crew who are trying to film conventional roles for women but they turn out to be cleaners from the mob industry.

“We have not made it a serious film, so it’s very funny and perfect for people who like dark comedy.”

Mr Survay grew up in Blackburn before he left in 2011 for University.

He said: “Growing up in Blackburn, we would watch at least three films a week and even go to the cinema once a week and this started my love for films.

“Blackburn will always be my home and I do admire the people I grew up with and my school too, St Stephens.

“To come from a place like Blackburn is harder but not impossible. You just have to find a way to follow the dream.”

“My parents are there too and are really supportive, they’re always checking in on me.

Mr Survay has been producing films for the last 10 years and joined the National Youth Film Academy last year.

He said: “Transformers was my big shoot and being close to Michael Bay made me pinch myself.

“It was fun, and I said a few words to him and even helped him move things on set, which was surreal for me, it was my highlight.”

The producer has been fortunate in being called on board to new projects.

He said: “I was working on a short film once and somebody had worked on the Netflix series Black Mirror and they called me to work on the film.”

A crowd-funder has also been set up to raise money to continue working on the film.
