A 37-year-old man died in his sleep following a drug overdose, an inquest opening heard.

Bolton Coroner's Court was told by Assistant Coroner for Manchester West, Catherine Cundy, that unemployed 37-year-old Daniel William Christian was discovered unresponsive by his partner around 10pm after going to sleep having taken a mixture of drugs.

Police Coroners Officer, Stephan Wilson, described how emergency services were called to Mr Christian's address in Oakfield Grove, Bolton, late on February 20 when he did not respond to his partner.

Despite the best efforts of emergency staff Mr Christian was pronounced dead at his home at 5:22am on February 21.

PCO Wilson confirmed that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death, after a police investigation, and there was no third party involvement.

Mr Christian's death was recorded as "1A combined drug toxicity".

The inquest was adjourned for a full hearing on August 11.
