A "ground-breaking" panel is being set-up in Greater Manchester with the aim of accelerating gender equality and combating problems faced as a result of lockdown.

The GM Women and Girls’ Equality Panel is now open and women and girls from Bolton are being encouraged to get involved.

It will be chaired by GM's lead for Ageing and Equalities, Cllr Brenda Warrington, amongst others.

She said: "It is vital that we address inequality issues.

"The outbreak will have created a number of inequalities, as well as increasing existing ones and it is vital that we see what we can do to combat these to ensure we have an equal society for all.

"This group is being created to work for all women and I would urge people to apply to join, to ensure that the membership is diverse and inclusive and we hear from a range of women from different backgrounds and with different experiences as possible."
