Three people had to be taken to hospital after a group of men launched a machete attack on another group of men at a Lancashire hotel.

Late on Sunday evening police received reports that a fight had broken out in the Doric Hotel on Queens Promenade in Blackpool.

Seven men brandishing machetes had attacked another group of men before running from the scene.

Three people were taken to hospital.

A spokesperson for the police said: "We were called at around 11.15pm on Sunday to a hotel on Queens Promenade, Blackpool, to reports of a public order incident.

"We attended and found a group of approximately seven men, who were in possession of weapons including machetes, had attacked another group of men before making off from the area.

"Three people were taken to hospital for treatment.

"One of them has since been discharged while two remain in hospital but are not thought to be suffering life-threatening injuries.

"No arrests have been made as yet but our enquiries are very much ongoing.

"At this point we believe all parties involved are known to each other and there is no wider threat to the public."
