TWO 15-YEAR-OLDS have been charged for pretending to be deaf and collecting money.

Police launched an investigation and appealed for the public’s help after reports that people had been knocking on doors in the Loveclough, Rossendale claiming to be from a deaf charity and then stealing items.

All the offences were allegedly committed in Rossendale, apart from one in Worsthorne, Burnley.

They are both due to appear before magistrates in Preston today.

The Police previously released a statement on Twitter to confirm the first girl had been arrested.

They said: "Following our appeal around distraction offences in Loveclough whereby the offender had claimed to be collecting for a charity in aid of the deaf.

"This weekend we have arrested and charged a 15 year old female in relation to these offences. She will appear at court today and will appear at Blackburn Magistrates this morning.

"Thank you to everybody who assisted with our investigation and the care and concern shown towards the victims in this case."
