ROCK band The Slow Readers Club has announced it will be live-streaming a gig from Bury next week.

The Manchester four-piece will become the latest act to use The Met as a stage to connect with fans during lockdown.

An exclusive set, will see songs from their top 10 album The Joy Of The Return being performed for the first time, alongside favourites from their back catalogue.

The gig at The Met is being promoted by the band itself, with fans being urged to secure tickets for the live stream through their own website.

Promoters at the Bury venue, faced with a raft of cancellations, have been busy adapting their outlook for weeks.

Live music has survived through streamed club nights, including the Hacidena House Party, and officials have been firm backers of the Save Our Venues campaign.

Bury has even been dubbed the “lockdown clubbing capital of The North”, as The Met’s events draw in millions of viewers.

The venue was also part of the United We Stream initiative, which brought together locations around Greater Manchester to stage music, comedy and dance performances online.

Adam Comstive, The Met’s marketing manager, has previously told the Bury Times: “Live music and the ability to enjoy new and favourite artists in a small venue like The Met is a huge part of many people’s lives.

“The response and encouragement we’ve seen from gig-goers is brilliant. It makes us determined to be ready to welcome people back to the building and get back to doing what we do best when the time is right.”
