A 29-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was stabbed in the neck, head and arm in Blackburn.

On Thursday afternoon police appealed for help in locating Lyndsey Harkan, pictured, as they wanted to speak with him in connection with the stabbing.

Harkan was eventually arrested on Friday afternoon and remains in police custody.

A 25-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, and a 20-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

On Friday, a spokesperson for the police said: "We appealed yesterday for help to find Lyndsey Harkan in connection with a stabbing in Blackburn.

"Harkan has now been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is currently in custody.

"Many thanks to everyone who helped to share our appeal."

Police were called at shortly after 7:50pm on Wednesday after receiving reports that a man had been stabbed at an address in Lower Hollin Bank Street, Blackburn.

The victim, 35, suffered stab wounds to his head, neck and arm was taken to Royal Preston Hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

A 25-year-old woman from Blackburn was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Another woman, aged 20 and also from Blackburn, was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

They both remain in custody.

On Thursday, Det Insp Andy Horne, of East CID, said: “As part of our on-going enquiries we need to speak to Lyndsey Harkan and I would appeal to anyone who knows where he may be to get in touch.

"I would also urge Lyndsey himself to do the right thing and come and talk to us if he sees this appeal.

“The victim in this incident suffered some significant injuries but is thankfully now in a stable condition in hospital.”
