AS PUBS and bars open across the UK this July 4 The Northern Echo has contacted some local venues to see what their plans are to keep you safe this Saturday.

The Northern Echo:

The William Stead in Darlington like all Wetherspoons pubs will be ensuring that all furniture in the pub is placed at a safe two metre distance around the pub, whilst also introducing a reduced capacity.

Once the pub is completely full the William Stead aims to start a queue outside of the pub allowing more people in as others leave.

They are encouraging people to use the Wetherspoons app to order as well as paying with contactless card as much as possible.

Moreover, there will be around six to eight hand sanitizers placed around the pub to ensure that people are washing their hands regularly.

The venue has installed screens at their tills to keep those serving and being served safe and screens have been placed where social distancing cannot be achieved.

Toilets will also be available with hand sanitizer, and these will be cleaned regularly.

The Northern Echo:

The Copper Beech is also taking big steps to keep people safe. They have also implemented social distancing measures and have ensured that there is enough space between tables to keep everyone at a two-metre distance.

The bar will ensure that there is full table service to avoid people from leaving their tables regularly and ordering face to face, and the largest table size will be limited to six people per table.

The venue is expecting a quieter weekend based on the bookings they have already received; however, they do have a limitation of 30 people within the pub at any one time.

Toilets will also be available at The Copper Beech and it will be a one in one out system.

The Northern Echo:

Hash Bar and Kitchen in Darlington is also taking similar steps, also ensuring that chairs and tables are socially distant from one another and making sure that people are not leaving their tables to come up to the bar.

The staff will be handling all the drinks and food whilst ensuring that they regularly sanitize their hands as well as regularly cleaning surfaces.

The venue is also making sure to take pre-bookings to ensure a much smother service as they will already have people’s details when they turn up to the door.

There will also be six to seven hand sanitizers placed around the pub as well as within the toilets.

The beer garden will be regularly monitored, and the venue is currently only allowing four households at any one time within the beer garden.

The Northern Echo:

The Hole in the Wall has provided information on their Facebook page and many similar steps to other pubs in the area.

There will be single use menus provided which will be disposed of after use and customers will be expected to book before they turn up to the pub.

Much like other venues the pub will have table service and tables will be placed at a two-metre distance throughout the pub.

Cashless payments will also be encouraged whenever possible.

The Northern Echo:

The Darlington Flyer is also providing very similar safety measures, wherein people will be encouraged to use their app to order and to pay with contactless payment with a limit of £45

And customers will also be expected to book ahead as their will be a reduced number of tables and capacity within the venue.

The Northern Echo:

The Northern Echo also contacted White Heifer That Travelled however they did not provide a comment as to whether they will be open this Saturday, but customers can find information on their website regarding safety measures when they do open.

They are set to take similar steps such as reduced capacity, socially distanced tables and chairs and ensuring that there are enough hand sanitizers placed around the building.
