ONE new coronavirus-related death has been reported from within Lancashire’s hospitals in the last 24-hours.

It means that the death toll for the whole of the county has now grown to 988.

However the remaining trusts haven’t reported any deaths from the virus in the last several days - with it now being nine days since the East Lancashire Hospital Trust recorded any fatalities.

The death toll in Blackburn and Burnley’s hospitals not stands at 199.

Likewise for Blackpool Teaching Hospitals, which has now gone four days without reporting any deaths and has reported a total of 232 fatalities.

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, which operates facilities including the Royal Preston Hospital, has recorded 241 deaths.

In the Southport and Ormskirk NHS Foundation Trust doctors and nurses have now looked after 148 patients who have died following a diagnosis with he virus.

Meanwhile in the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust, 167 individuals have died.

However, the figures do not include people in the community or in care homes who have also died from Covid-19.

A further 37 deaths have been reported in hospitals across the country, bringing the death toll in England to 28,709.
