A LOCAL branch of the Royal British Legion has benefitted from a £250 donation after the opening of a discount retail store in Oswaldtwistle.

Bosses at Heron Foods which opened its doors for the first time on Union Road on Thursday morning gave something back to the community giving cash to the Church and Oswaldtwistle Royal British Legion.

The company has also provided Oswaldtwistle Secondary School with 125 bottles of hand sanitiser to give back in these difficult times and ease the children’s transition back into school.

The store itself will be a boost to the local community with 18 jobs created in both full- and part-time roles.

A spokesman said: “We’re thrilled to be able to make these donations to good causes in the local community. It’s great to get the doors open and start welcoming customers through the doors. I’d like to thank colleagues for their efforts as well as our new neighbours who have already shown support.”
