Five new coronavirus related deaths have been recorded in Lancashire within the last 24-hours, latest figures show.

The total number of deaths across the county has therefore risen to 987, across Lancashire's five hospital trusts, after there were no new deaths reported yesterday.

Of the five new confirmed cases, two were reported within Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, which operates the Royal Preston Hospital.

These deaths were recorded as being on June 24 meaning the trust now has 241 reported coronavirus deaths in total.

Two deaths were also recorded at Southport and Ormskirk Hospitals on June 25, taking their overall total up to 148 patients.

The only other recorded death in Lancashire took place at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust, in which 167 people have now sadly passed away from the virus.

However, the East Lancashire Hospitals Trust, which has recorded 199 deaths overall, is approaching nearly a week with no new reported deaths from the virus.

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals also recorded its second day without any new virus deaths, with 232 people having passed away from covid at this hospital.
