Lives lost to the coronavirus across Greater Manchester during the pandemic are to be remembered in an online memorial book — with Bolton residents encouraged to send in their tributes and messages.

This book is being created in partnership with the Greater Manchester Combined Authority and Manchester Cathedral, due to launch on July 16.

People affected by the virus can submit the name of the person they lost, with a photo and a message about them to be entered into the book of remembrance.

The memorial will pay particular tribute to loved ones who died from coronavirus while working on the frontline in the NHS and social care.

At least 221 people have died from coronavirus at the Royal Bolton Hospital.

Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester, said: "As a community we wish to express our compassion and support for those who suffer loss, to remember the sorrows and sacrifices of others and express gratitude for the memories we treasure.

"I hope that through this online memorial we will be able to pay tribute and remember with affection every person who died of Covid-19 in Greater Manchester."
