SELF-isolating people in East Lancashire have have thousands of daily chores taken care of by the NHS Volunteer Responders service, which continues to operate as the country comes out of coronavirus lockdown.

Volunteers working with the Royal Voluntary Service on the programme said they want to reassure people in the east of the county who continue to self-isolate will still get support.

In fact, the NHS Volunteer Responders service was recently extended to include anyone who is self-isolating because they have confirmed or suspected coronavirus symptoms, or have been in contact with someone who has.

The latest Department of Health and Social Care figures show that over 100,000 people have been asked to self-isolate having been contacted by the NHS Test and Trace service.

Nationally, since the service launched in March, volunteers have completed 400,000 tasks including driving people to hospital and delivering food and medication.
